Personally I can't wait for this to be released.

• It's a touch screen Windows PDA, with a numeric PHONE keypad (not a tiny QWERTY which HTC and Blackberry seem obsessed with).
• It'll sync beautifully with Microsoft XP/Vista (unlike the iPhone), and be able to edit pretty much all the files types you normally use at home/work.
• There are already more applications available than for any other OS, including TomTom, which should interface nicely with the inbuilt GPS. Plus 802.11(g?) for WAN, and BT2 for streaming wireless audio (AD2P).
• Construction should be awesome thanks to the slim, solid, metal case, and Asus really are reknowned for their battery performance.
• The 2MPix is enough for realistic day-to-day happy-snaps, but Asus's scanner function is a novel extra.
• If this follows on from the P525, it will also work as a Mass Storage Device (so no need to run through Active-sync), though USB-OTG would be a bonus (like the Loox T830).

OK - rant over - like I said, I can't wait !!!

Asus Pegasus Phone...

Asus has a new PDA phone on the horizon, it's dubbed the Pegasus, a thin (15.4 mm) Windows Mobile phone. It features a GPS navigation system, and not much else is known about it yet, but it looks like it will be one worth watching for.

[...] There’s not a whole lot of details to go on here, but it looks like the iF Design Awards got the first look at ASUS’s latest Pocket PC phone, with the Unwired View blog spotting these two pics of the candybar-style handset. Dubbed Pegasus (a throwback to the origin of the company’s name), the phone appears to be a slightly slimmed down revision to ASUS’s P525 smartphone, measuring in at a mere 0.6 inches thick while still packing built-in GPS and a camera of unspecified megapixels. Otherwise, about all that’s known about the device is that it’s Windows Mobile-based, has a full numeric keypad and jog dial, and supposedly has a brushed aluminum finish and diamond-cut edges, although it’s tough to discern that from the pics. For the rest of the specs, not to mention details on pricing or availability, it looks like we’ll just to wait for a more official announcement. [...]

Well, I guess it depends on personal preferences and also on what you are looking for - Smartphone or PDA :)
I admit I have a little weakness for Nokia and little things, like dedicated music and camera controls are pretty important for me.
But Asus Pegasus seems to really blur the line between the phone and PDA. But we will have to wait for official announcement to see how the specs compare.
Unfortunately I will probably buy N95 before Pegasus is launche . Actually I'm just waiting for N95 to come out and if it's not too bulky I'm buying one.

MY STRONG OPINION: N95 isn't better than PegAsus! :)
1. Smaller display (2.6" versus 2.8")
2. Very weak battery for this functionality - 950mAh. I suppose it won't live even one working day if using all functions!!! ASUS is the best in battery life!
3. Symbian OS needs more powerful processor than WinMobile, and I suppose that this Nokia will not be so fast as PegAsus. It's my IMHO based on previous N-series implementations.
4. I still don't see AD2P bluetooth-stereo profile in the N-Series. This device seems like also doesn't have it. ASUS has!
5. ... will add more when more detailed specs of both devices will be known. ;)

Hey Adam: smartphone, Palmphone, PDAphone, PDA + GSM system or even multimedia computer (as Nokia calls them). I don't really care ;) As long as they do what I want them to do. And Nokia N95/Pegasus functions are pretty similar, they both even have GPS navigation built-in. The only difference I see is that one runs on Symbian and another on Windows Mobile OS. BTW, Pegasus is most definitely not a Palmphone, Pocket PC phone would be closer, check the backcover on the photo :)

[...] Rimeaza si de aceea pare un nume cam retardat. Cu toate acestea, Asus Pegasus este cat se poate de smart. Smartphone. Ruland sub un sistem de operare Windows Mobile, Pegasus are o grosime de doar 14.5 mm. In ciuda acestei grosimi, Pegasus are totusi o lista sanatoasa de functionalitati, incluzand GPS si camera foto de rezolutie inca nespecificata.

Yeh, I have to agree with that one. It will actually depend on the size of the thing whether I buy it or not, but I think Nokia N95 is the best among the smartphones so far.

Of course when iPhone (especially the next gen. one in about 18 moths) comes out it will change the game completely.
