Samsung D880 DuoS Dual SIM card phone

Mobile phones that can carry and work with two SIM cards in nothing new really. We’ve seen quite a few such models, but usually made by little known manufacturers and mainly in Asia.

Well, it looks like Samsung is planing to bring dual SIM card mobile phones into mainstream in Europe with their Samsung DuoS D880 phone.

Samsung D880 DuoS slider can work with two SIM cards from different operators or support two phone numbers from the same operator.

Both cards in Samsung SGH-D880 can work simultaneously to make and receive calls, send/receive SMS messages. The user also can easily select which card to use for mobile browsing, e-mail and other multimedia services. Your WAP/MMS/E-mail profiles are switched automatically when different card is selected.

When you receive the call, the name of the card that for the call flashes on screen and each SIM card can be assigned it’s own ringtone. In case of missed calls, the relevant card is also indicated.

Except for the dual SIM cards, Samsung DuoS D880 is your ordinary 2.5G Samsung slider with:

The only thing not to like, is the price – Samsung D880 DuoS is expected to cost around $700. But when you consider that you won’t have to carry two different phones in your pocket, the price tag doesn’t look so bad anymore.

Samsung DuoS is expected to go on sale in November.

    Hi, I just bought this phone but I cant get both sim cards to be on simultaneously, either one is on and the other one is off. I though both sim cards would be on at the same time and I could make or receive a call from either of them without having to switch. Can any one help?

    From my experience with dual sim card phone of other brand, there should be a setting menu that you can turn both sim cards on.

    Try to find it.

    Hello Brinley,

    What I found about this phone is that you cannot use both sims at the same time because it is a tri-band phone and it cant work like this, you need a quad-band phone in order to use this function. I did sell this phone but bought this i68+ phone, its a chinese copy of the iphone but it basucaly the same, and with this phone you can use both sims at the same time with no problem and it about $170 usd so very afordable.

    Thanks for the response I appreciate it. Ive tried looking everywere but cant seem to find an option, the only one that could be is were you change the sim names and set the primary sim, but there I cant set both to active. If you find anything or hear anything, would you please let me know?

    On the left side of the phone (above Volume button), you have one small button. Press it.
    Now in the opened menu check your first sim card as Primary (Enable will be chacked automaticly).
    On the second sim card just check Enable.
    Thats how it works for me.

    I'm not an expert, don't own the phone for that matter, a friend of mine does. Normally both sims are active, you just choose one as primary for your outgoing calls. However, receiving calls and messages just happen simultaniously on both sims.

    I purchased Samsung d880. I transferred data from pc to mobile via blue tooth its takes permission and transferred the data but i don't know where he saved the data. I checked data in memory card in pc. but i don't know how to see the data in mobile.

    dear azhar, y dnt u trnsfr data through transfr data cable, dnt use blue tooth for transfering data with pc...2ndly, check all file saved in phone as well in memory card, it must be there, if u transfrd corectly....

    hi budi, yar itz good set but itz not good for advanced users, coz its slow in processing data, like typing sms, sending, or switching inbetween files, or data....so it sugested that it is good for xecutive class,
    more, it has a ribon problem, that is acutually hapens with sliding sets, n mostly with samsung, so to resolve this, it has to open the set, n that really big deal
    instead of d880, 780 is good if we dnt want2c ribbon problem...

    click on your files, on the top part of your phone can find symbols like: <* , #> this means push # sign and you'll go through your memory card! hooray!
