Samsung BRIX modular multimedia phone concept
It’s been a while since we’ve seen a really impressive concept phone here on Unwired View. Well, today I’ve got one for you, coming from Samsung.
Samsung Art and Design Institute held a 10 week courses for design students in their Product Design Department, with the concept product/prototype exhibition at the end of it. Samsung BRIX is one of more impressive product concepts presented there:

Samsung BRIX is modular, full touchscreen multimedia mobile phone, where you can ad additional brick modules to the basic platform to expand it’s capabilities and user experience.
E.g. if the phone screen is too small to enjoy a movie, get more bricks to improve the screen real estate; need a better camera then is currently on the phone? Just plug-in expansion camera brick.
Even though Samsung BRIX is a just a concept phone by an outside designer team, Samsung itself has been exploring similar ideas and even has a patent to prove it.

Called “Mobile terminal having wide viewing function digital broadcasting” the patent application describes the possibility of plugging together 2 separate Samsung phones to expand available screen size for better media viewing experience.
Looks like a cool design direction and it would be interesting to see what new products it will spawn in the future.
