The hints about upcoming Sony Ericsson Cybershot phone with 3x optical zoom have been floating around for a while already.

Now we have a confirmation that such a handset does indeed exist and may even be launched this week. And this Sony Ericsson Cybershot phone has amazing specs, like 5.1 megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom and 2.7″ Wide VGA 480×864 px 262K color display.

Unfortunately, it is headed only to Japan so far, as part of NTT DoCoMo 905 i series line-up to be announced tomorrow, according to the report by Chinese tech portal IT168.

Sony Ericsson SO905iCS Cybershot is a handset that’s really built around Cybershot camera.

SE Cybershot SO905iCS comes equipped with 5.1 megapixel, 3 x optical zoom lens with 4.5 to 13.5 mm focal length, variable aperture F2.8~5.4 and focusing distance of 3-30cm. The camera also supports 16x digital zoom, multi-point focus with 5 mode auto-focus, high speed and digital imaging Anti-Shake function.

And yes, Sony Ericsson SO905iCS Cybershot is also a phone for GSM/WCDMA networks, with media player, memory card and all other functions high end 3G phone should have. It measures at 113 × 50 × 20 mm and weights 150g.

So, now that SE proved that they can make a really advanced camera/phone for Japanese, when are we going to get one here in Europe or U.S? In the form of the real Sony Ericsson K870i Cybershot, perhaps?
