Groundsurf: Drive there with your HTC Cruise. Literally
Have ever tried Segway? These computerized gyroscopes are really wonderful. You lean forward and on Segway goes. You shift back and and it stops. Really neat thing to get around town.
And now similar technology is coming to your skateboard (ahem…) (ground) surfboard, as well. It is called GroundSurf, is made by Ratleads, will be marketed by Gordon & Smith and will retail for $1770-$2040.
It’s got electrical motor in the front wheel, 3 dimensional cinematic rear truck, sensors as detection system, sensor pads on the board as motor remote control (you lean forward to accelerate, backward to slow down or brake).

Cool, isn’t it? But what’s it got to do with mobile phones? Well, how about this - GroundSurf can use a touchscreen Bluetooth mobile phone device as alternative motor remote system…
Yep, get that HTC Touch Cruise out of your pocket, get on your GroundSurf, slide a finger on a screen forward and on you go. Want to go faster, slide again. To stop - slide it back.
The software for HTC Touch devices should be available soon after GroundSurf launch, which is planned for spring 2008.
And, if Apple SDK is up to it, you just might be able to turn your iPhone into GroundSurf remote control as well.
