About a month ago, we scared a few hopeful Sony Ericsson fans with a report that said the Xperia X1 could be delayed for a year, launching specifically on February 10, 2009. That would have been bad news for Sony Ericsson, because by that time a lot of other kick-butt phones would have already been released by other manufacturers who are mindful of their business.
But the latest development has us looking at a mid-September, not February 2009, release date. This all happened while Sony Ericsson was quietly taking its time in tweaking this device, I assume. A third party, of course, had to do all the dirty work.
What you’re looking at is a copy of Handango’s latest Developer Newsletter issue, in which they are calling out to developers for applications that would fit the soon coming Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. And while I’m sure they mean no harm to SE in this particular issue, there’s one problem: they “unintentionally” leaked the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 official release date, which was supposed to be “classified information.” All we knew so far before this newsletter, was that the SE Xperia X1 was supposed to come out during the second half of 2008, if not early 2009. But now, things just got a little bit clearer.
The exact words that revealed the Xperia X1′s release date are these:
The Xperia X1 will launch in mid-September 2008 with the Handango InHand service on the device. This is a fantastic opportunity for all our Partners to sell their products directly through a dedicated on-device channel.
Hey SE, none of our spies got it, so don’t blame it on us, OK? Thanks, Handango! For best Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 deals in U.K click here!
