Pelago Whrrl opens up for BlackBerry Pearl and Curve

Still unseen on top of Apple’s Mobile OS X platform, Pelago’s iFund-backed mobile social discovery service called Whrrl is opening up to users of BlackBerry Pearl and Curve handsets. This adds the BlackBerry Pearl and Curve to the list of supported devices, which originally features the Nokia N95.

The idea behind Pelago is simple: a map of your surrounding area is shown, and on it, local spots can be rated and reviewed by all connected users, thus giving you one more way of interacting with strangers in this social network-driven kind of world.

The BlackBerry Pearl and Curve clients of Whrrl can be downloaded from http://m.whrrl.com, where an odd listing of downloads for other devices such as RAZRs and the Samsung M610 can be found.

From what we know about Whrrl, it’s hard to say that this is an app to really get excited about. But then again, there should be a reason why it received a slice of the Apple iFund, so let’s give this one the benefit of the doubt.
