Sony Ericsson announces J132 and K330 entry-level cell phones
Along with the 8.1 megapixel C905 and the motion-gaming F305, Sony Ericsson has announced two more cell phones, the J132 and K330, targeted at the money-wary, budget-minded customer.
While the J132 and the K330 are alike in their candybar form factor, they differ in many other aspects when features count. Although they feature the bare necessities that you would look for in a cell phone, they do have some characteristics to make it through to the low-end cell phone category and seem to be aimed at emerging markets.
The J132 handset will be available in both global and US versions with support for 900/1800MHz and 850/1900MHz frequencies respectively. Let us see what else it has to offer:
- Measures 103 x 45 x 15 millimeters
- 1.5 inch 65k color CSTN display, 128×160 pixels
- FM Radio
- Speakerphone
- Dust-resistant keypad
- Polyphonic ringtones
- Alarm clock, calculator, calendar, and timer
- Talktime: 9 hours of talktime and up to 450 hours of standby time
- Torch functionality
- Available in Night Black and Heaven Blue colors
As with the J132, the K330 will also be available in global and US versions, along with a VGA camera with video recording capability, clearly a notch above the J132. Other features include:
- Measures 100 x 45 x 12 millimeters
- 1.7-inch 65K-color TFT display, 128×160 pixels
- Bluetooth
- FM radio
- WAP 2.0 browser
- MMS
- Speakerphone
- Torch functionality
- Healthmate application to keep a calorie count and for daily health planning
- Available in Green on Black and Gold on Black colors
The K330 will become available in the third quarter of 2008 while the J132 will start selling a bit more later in the fourth quarter at unknown prices, but judging by the features, these two cell phones will be extremely affordable.
