Apple Interested in Launching iPhone in Korea
A quick perusal of Apple’s job opportunity website indicates they are interested in spreading the iPhone into Korea.
The notice on the jobs site shows they are looking for a Korea iPhone account manager, who would “manage the day to day issues of our chosen carrier, ensure healthy relationship and help develop the market.”
However just because they are looking doesn’t mean Korea is playing nice. There certainly are a few hurdles to be cleared before a carrier is chosen. While the negotiations have reportedly begun, Apple would need to modify the iPhone to make it work with WIPI, Korea’s wireless internet platform, in order to work in that country.
So it all comes down to how willing Apple is to modify its own software in order to get the device pushed into Korea. Keep your eyes on UV to get all the news on this development.
