T3′s 01 – cool concept, cool prank

The countdown has begun for a new smartphone that should soon kill off the iPhone, Nokia N96, Samsung Innov8 and any other new smartphone coming into a market.

It’s called The 01 Phone, and it’s launching within a month.

And if you don’t believe that it will be a stunner – just take a look at the specs: 5.0-megapixel camera, 3G internet, and a whopping 32GB of storage … the slide-out part of the handset actually conceals a laser keyboard, which projects a full qwerty onto the flat surface below … full touch-screen… stunning multimedia capabilities, etc;

And, of course, the looks:

Katherine at T3 accidentally stumbled on the new promotional site for the device and brought the news to us.

The phone looks real cool and I’m postponing my new mobile phone purchases until I can get my hands on this one… Or not.

It just sounds too good to be true. And it is.

A little DNS look-up shows that the domain for the 01  phone is registered to Future Publishing, the publisher of T3 magazine itself.

Well, looks like a really nice concept for a future phone. And a cool prank. Seems to be a bit late for April fools, but makes for a nice weekend reading anyway.
