Sony Ericsson spokesman: Xperia X1 is “on track”, quit complaining
It could be just the voices in my head, but I could swear I heard rumors that the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is delayed for its release. Sony Ericsson first announced that it will be made available during the second half of 2008, but now we’re nearing the last quarter and it’s still nowhere in sight.
Apparently, many other industry sources share my view, and believe the the first Windows Mobile-powered Sony Ericsson handset will not be seeing the light of day any time soon. This has forced Sony Ericsson spokesman Merran Wrigley to come out and finally set things straight.

According to Wrigley, the company is not experiencing delays in delivering the Xperia X1, it’s just that they are sticking to the “scheduled” Q4 2008 release date.
“There is absolutely no delay. The product is on track. We have said it will roll out in Q4 and we are on target to do that.”
Now that the Xperia X1’s panel interface SDK is already available for download, Sony Ericsson had better deliver soon. They don’t want the devs losing interest in their first bet at a Windows Mobile smartphone, do they?
