Now, four other handsets from SE’s 2009 line-up have come to the light: Sony Ericsson Yue, Sony Ericsson Filippa, Sony Ericsson Frances and Sony Ericsson Athena. All of these are codenames, of course, but even so, there are some details about all of them.
Sony Ericsson Yue is said to be a successor of K550, so it’s a Cyber-shot phone. The phone should be a candybar with a 3.2 MP camera. Its launch date might be sometime at the end of Q1 2009.
Below is an image with how Sony Ericsson Yue could look like. I’ve put the new phone next to the old K550, which, as you might already know, has a small 1.9 inch display. Let’s hope Yue will have a display similar to how I’ve imagined it:
Sony Ericsson Filippa is another Cyber-shot candybar said to feature HSUPA connectivity, 140MB of internal memory, SnapFish, BestPic, PhotoFix, Face Detection and Smile Shutter. It should be out sometime in 2009 in three color versions: Noble Black, Sincere Silver and Precious Peach.
Sony Ericsson Frances – yet another Cyber-shot, but this one is a slider. It’s said to be “very pretty” and to come with GPS, active lens cover, PhotoFix, Face Detection and Smile Shutter. No word yet about how many Megapixels its camera will have.
Sony Ericsson Athena is from the Snapshot series, a mid-end candybar that might be released in Q1 2009 as the successor of S302.
Bottom line: Sony Ericsson might have some really nice Cyber-shot phones in 2009. But please, SE, make their displays as big as you can. The K550 vs. the Yue mock-up image should be enough for you to see that large screens can be fit into small phones if they’re designed wisely.
