Nokia Friend View released so you can stay close to your friends
Nokia Friend View – this is the latest product to come from Nokia Beta Labs. In the Finnish company’s words, it’s an experimental location and micro-blogging service that lets users view their friends’ location, as well as share their own location.
Friend View is comprised of a mobile application and a web browser interface, but only the first one is mandatory if you want to use the service.
The service finds locations (yours or your friends’) via GPS. In case GPS is not available, it will approximate the location using the phone’s network.
In order to use Friend View, you need to have a Nokia Account and register with the user name and password from there.
Nokia Friend View has been tested on handsets like Nokia N96, N95 8GB, N95, N82, E71, 5320 XpressMusic and others. It’s said to work on any S60 3rd Edition smartphone anyway.
You can download the Nokia Friend View mobile app from here. Weird enough, you can only download it if you use Mozilla Firefox or Safari, as Nokia is still working on adding support for Internet Explorer.
