yh, it has fast forward function, it can forward 2 minutes track in just 5 sec., please compare it with ur Nokia 5310, before buying it.

can anyone who owns an N79 tell me if the fast forward on the music player is fast? I want to upgrade to this phone but I need the music player's fast forward function to be fast because I record a radio show and I like to fast forward through the long commercials during playback on the device. I have a Nokia 5310 and it's fast forward is pretty slow.

Your WLAN probably uses encryption and needs login key. You should ask your WAN admin for it

Polar does not plan to sell the belt alone. There is a dedicated thread on Polar website.
Btw, it's better to use a Polar or other watch with dedicated functions. It's liter, complete and ready to go right now.

I was interested in learning about the N79 packaged as N79 'Active' with Polar Heart Rate Monitor and Sports Tracker, neoprene armband and improved earphones, so one can listen to Music whilst running, jogging, hiking, cycling or working out in the Gym.

I have been diagnosed with triple Heart Disease and CABG surgery recommended as the treatment. However I am trying i) Medication, ii) Diet. and iii) increased exercise, to avoid or delay the need for CABG.

The Nokia N79 Active with the new Sports Tracker that supports the Bluetooth HRM, is great, and no doubt the Noia N79 is great phone to pair with this 'Active' pack.

However I already own a Nokia N95 8GB that is running Sports Tracker and it updated to V2,06. I really just want to buy the Polar ActiveWear Belt with Coded Bluetooth Transmitter for Nokia.

'Nokia' wont seemingly sell the Bluetooth Transmitter as a 'spare' or an accessory, and 'Polar' not offering it as a separate item either, as far as I can tell?.

I didn't notice it in the N79 as well. Scrolling through the menus will be fast, especially when using the NaviWheel. I wish Nokia made the accelerometer less sensitive, though. The auto-rotate feature was sometimes annoying.

yes its true, i cannot transfer also my sim contacts to phone memory, i already open the options in contact, there is sim option but no copy or move option in folder, so u need to enter all the contacts in phone memory but other phone is automatic, its hassle for the user

yeah, its true, even me i cannnot transfer my simcontact to phone memory, there is option in contacts and sim but no options for copying the contacts to phone memory, but other phone is automatic once u insert the sim it will appear the copy option, but here NOTHING.

own a N79 and these are the pitfalls with it.

1) Camera clarity is not so good in low light (There is a slight gap between the flash and the lens which makes the flash light fall on the lens)

2) You can’t get still images with your camera in N79. (Every time you try to click a moving object you’ll get the trail of the object in the photo)

3) Gets Struck if fully loaded with data/content in memory card.

4) Wall paper cannot be seen on the whole screen. (Need to create your own theme using that wallpaper to get on full screen).

5) Keypad is a bit slippery (wrong key can be pressed while you are typing a message)

6) The back panel makes small sounds while phone usage (not loud though.. but you can’t ignore it J)

7) Loaded with Maps 2.0 which is not up to the mark.

8) The preloaded themes are not so good compared to default themes in other nokia phones

9) The sound from the speakers is not loud enough.

Some good features

1) The camera clarity in video mode is really good.

2) The multimedia key on the keypad is really handy.

3) The 5 MP camera is really handy as a digital camera in day light.

4) The breathing navigation wheel is really cool. J

5) The N-gage gaming with motion sensor is good.

6) With a good network provider (in terms of browsing costs) you can turn your N79 into a mini laptop.

7) WLAN is good.

8) Inbuilt FM transmitter works perfectly within 10-15 feet range.

9) Preloaded oxford dictionary with updates is good.

10) Mail client is good to keep an eye on mails.

11) Many 3rd party applications can be installed and used with ease.

hi there just had my new nokia n79 for +- 2hours and it failed to work …once you key lock the phone it did not wana unlock,,,,,luckly it was exchange for me by my service provider….now i worry how long the new one will last…..

I have always had Nokia phones but this N79 is the WORST I have ever had! Can't stand the keypad – it is so sensitive, takes ages to respond to any command you give it! Truly, I will never get a Nokia again.And now the battery goes flat after an hour and the phone's only 4 months old.

Don't buy this phone. It has a lot of bugs, no matter what other people says. I own this phone since an year and use it for everything. Better to say that i would like to use it for everything, but it's not possible because of its many bugs.
Stay away from this N79, it's a lost of money.

i ended up returning mu n79 back to nokia for testing. after updating to v11 my phone rebooted almost each time when i was receiving a call.
very buggy software. i gave nokia another chance after almost 10 years of using many other brands and i regret it very much. seems to me that this phone didn't even has any testing done at all!
featurewise, it looked great phone. packed with everything one can wish for on a phone these days and the screen is really great. keyboard on the other hand is hard to type and software has simply too many issues.
i can't wait for next FW release!

decent review, but you finished it off on a bad note. the fact that the n79 doesnt charge over usb is not the main difference between it and the n85. the n85 has more available ram, has a larger screen and has a am-oled screen that not only looks much better but uses less power. the retail package also comes with a tv out cable so value for the dollar is subjctive.

Well, there's 83 MB internal memory, and yes it's possible to run all those apps at the same time. In my experience I was even able to run up to 10 applications simultaneously (others were in the background, of course).

The video editor was absent from the N78, and I didn't notice it in the N79 as well. Scrolling through the menus will be fast, especially when using the NaviWheel. I wish Nokia made the accelerometer less sensitive, though. The auto-rotate feature was sometimes annoying.

Right you are about the zooming. There doesn't seem to be a way to fine tune it, as in there's no step zoom, just smooth flowing zoom (for both zooming in or out). Still a nifty feature, though, that's been present in many recent Nokia S60 phones.

But i have some questions open.
- How much Ram has the N79? Is ist posible to run the FM Transmitter, Musikplayer and Maps paralell? My N95-1 ist out of ram if i try to play musik while maps is running to.
- Is the video editor still there? Just read a story, that this is missing in the n96
- How fast fell the device? Scrolling through menues and contacts and so on?

Fact is that you CAN zoom on pictures without the Edit mode. Just use the volume up/down keys, like you do for zooming when taking a picture
