Sony Ericsson gets into Korea with XPERIA X1

What’s with all these European/Japanese/American  companies trying to penetrate Korean market with a year (and more) old handset models?

Isn’t Korea supposed to be one of the most advanced mobile device markets in the world. With high specc’ed devices from native Samsung and LG reigning supreme?

Well, I have no idea, but I’ve already seen Motorola and Nokia try this old handset adapted to Korean market approach. And I’m still waiting for any news that it’s working.

The last one to try this trick is Sony Ericsson with it’s Xperia X1 Windows Mobile smartphone.

Granted, SE Xperia X1 is not such an old/lame news as regurgitated Motorola  RAZR 2 or PEBL models, or a GPS-less NOkia 6210 Navigator.

And Sony Ericsson claims that they worked hard for nine month with SK telecom to adapt Xperia X1 to Korean need. They even say that Korea is the only country to get it’s own, customized set of Xperia panels, which include “My Smart panel”, “Daum panel”, “ My PC Panel” and “”SBU panel”.

Other Korean only Xperia X1 features include 4GB microSD card with pre-loaded Spiderman 3 movie, additional battery and charging dock.

Expected price of Korean Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is around 800L Won ($530,EUR 420).

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how Xperia fairs agains local offerings from Samsung and LG.
