Nokia Ovi Movies service on the way?
With Nokia busily moving into various online content and service fields, one thing is glaringly missing from it’s OVI online offerings.
Movies.
Yes, I know, they are pretty busy with worldwide rollout of Music store, Ovi store for apps and other things.
And I know that one Nokia exec explicitly stated that they do not plan a separate full fledged Movie offering like Samsung Movies for Mobile or Sony Ericsson PlayNow Movies and will use Ovi Store for video content.
Well, I was watching Anssi Vanjoki presentation at Web 2.0 and noticed one interesting thing in one of the slides:
Aren’t there too many icons in that Ovi service line-up? The last icon from the left definetely looks like something related to movies to me. And all other icons come from various Nokia services available through Ovi portal.
And it does not look like an icon for an Ovi store, I think. The focus is on apps there, and this one is clearly film/video related.
So what do you think? Can a separate Nokia Ovi Movie offering be on the way, despite their public denials?
After all they’ve got a separate offering for the music. And movies, TV Series, other big studio licensed stuff, with their DRM, copyright requirements and regional complications, are much closer to music then various apps and content anyone can create and publish through OVI store.
