Orange brings Wikipedia content to its phones
Orange and the Wikimedia Foundation have just announced a new partnership that will bring new mobile services to European customers.
Said partnership – the first of its kind – will allow Orange’s subscribers to quickly access content from Wikipedia, the famous web encyclopedia, directly on their mobile phones.
The first phase of the partnership will: create Wikipedia channels on Orange’s web and mobile portals; enrich Orange’s portals with direct links to useful info from Wikipedia; create mobile and web-based widgets that should allow users to access Wikipedia content from their handsets faster than ever.
For the beginning, Orange will roll-out the services in the UK, France, Spain and Poland. After that, the rest of its European markets will be able to enjoy the new services as well.
