1GB USIM chip announced by KTF in Korea
KTF, South Korea’s second largest mobile operator, announced the upcoming introduction of new USIM chips that can have up to 1GB of internal memory.
The USIM (Universal Subscriber Identity Module) chips will be commercially available in the second half of 2009, in 256MB and 512MB versions that can be upgraded to 1GB.
With a capacity of 1GB, the USIM can store data like music or games, enabling the phone you use it with to access content faster than ever.
Needless to say, when a customer changes its phone, the data stored on the USIM card will be available on the new handset as well.
