Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 confirmed by Skyhook CEO?
It’s been some time since we last heard about a Sony Ericsson Xperia other than the X1.
But that doesn’t mean SE isn’t working on a second-generation Xperia, right?
Although many probably want the next Sony Ericsson Xperia to run on Android, it looks like it will be a Windows Mobile handset, just like the X1.
According to GigaOM, Skyhook CEO Ted Morgan talked about the new Xperia (among other things), saying that the “X2 edition of Sony Xperia phone (Windows Mobile-based) uses geolocation data from Google.”
That’s it, no other details.
(this is not the X2, it’s just an image from a SE video promo)
Skyhook is the company that provides WPS (wireless access points) for Apple’s iPhone and iPod touch, so the Xperia X2 mentioning can be seen as a confirmation of the phone’s upcoming release – since it comes from a reliable source.
Most probably, Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 will run on Windows Mobile 6.5. Let’s hope it will be available before the year’s end.
