Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Star Trek edition for the UK
With sales of about 1 million units per month, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is already a hit around the world. But that doesn’t mean Nokia won’t try to sell even more units of it.
And what better way to boost sales than making a 5800 Star Trek edition? With the upcoming release of the new Star Trek movie (May 8), the touchscreen phone’s success is almost assured.
Presented as “the ultimate Trekkie accessory”, Nokia 5800 Star Trek edition will be available in the UK starting May 1, in three color versions: red, blue and black/silver. It will be exclusively offered via Phones 4U, for free when bought with a Vodafone, O2, T-Mobile or Orange contract agreement of at least £25 a month.
Nokia 5800 Star Trek edition will obviously include Star Trek-related content, like screensavers, wallpapers and exclusive ringtones (”Phaser Shot”, “Kelvin Communicator”, “Red Alert” and so on).
It will also come with a Phaser application, although it’s not clear yet what this app can do. But we’ve heard that real personal phasers “can be made small enough to fit in the user’s palm and still be deadly”
