Following the European Parliament’s decision to cut roaming costs across Europe, Vodafone UK has now announced that it would completely drop roaming charges for the summer (starting June 1 and throughout the end of August).
Both pay as you go and pay monthly customers will be able to call and send text messages from more than 35 European countries, at the same price as inside the UK.
Note that, unfortunately, the new offering doesn’t include mobile internet.
The largest British mobile carrier will also cut the prices for calling abroad from the UK. Thus, as of May 15 (tomorrow), Vodafone UK’s users can make calls abroad for as low as 5 pence per minute.
“These are two great value offers for our customers this summer. With our Vodafone Passport promotion you can sit on the beach with your phone switched on knowing you can take and make a call just as you would if you were in your back garden. Vodafone International is good news for the millions of UK pay as you go customers as they can now make calls to family and friends around the world from just 5p,” declared Ian Shepherd, consumer director for Vodafone UK.
