HP iPaq Obsidian with WinMo 6.5 Coming to AT&T
Get ready for an onslaught of AT&T phone release news everyone. The first piece of news is coming from good ol’ Hewlett-Packard, which has been rather quiet in the US phone market since its launch of the iPaq 6xxx lineup a couple years back.
Turns out HP has been cranking out quite a few handsets that just haven’t had any big push in the States, not landing on any US carrier, but that’s all about to change now. Looks like the 3rd gen of iPaq, officially known as the K3 and code-named HP Obsidian, will be making an appearance in time for Christmas of this year.
So what does the Obsidian have in store for us? Will the brand new handset wow us at all? Let’s check out pics and specs.

The Obsidian is packing:
- Windows Mobile 6.5
- 2 MP Camera
- GPS
- 256 MB RAM/512 MB ROM
- 3.5 mm jack
- WiFi
- QVGA Display
That’s what we know for now. And by no means is this anything truly to be excited about in terms of the latest and greatest (though we do love the RAM and ROM specs), but it may be a good quality handset nonetheless. We will withhold judgment until it gets closer to launch.

Expected release time is November 30 of this year. Since we are a long ways out from that date, don’t be surprised to see that date change at some point.
