The first Windows Mobile 6.5 phones coming on October 6
Microsoft has just announced that the first batch of Windows Mobile 6.5 phones will be available around the world starting October 6 this year.
In Microsoft’s words, WM 6.5 “will deliver new customer experiences through an improved, easy-to-use user interface, better browsing capabilities and access to valuable services”.
Among these services, MyPhone and Windows Marketplace for Mobile are probably the most eagerly expected by users.

Microsoft didn’t say what phone models will be launched exactly. However, it did mention who will come with WM 6.5 handsets:
- in North America – A&T, Verizon, Sprint, Bell and Telus will have phones from Samsung, LG, HTC, HP and Toshiba
- in Europe – Orange, Vodafone and Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile) will have phones from Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson, HTC, Toshiba and Acer
- in Asia Pacific – NTT DOCOMO, Softbank, SK Telecom, Telstra and Willcom will also have handsets from Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson, HTC, Toshiba and Acer
- in Latin America, TIM Brazil will release devices from Samsung, LG and HTC
