Apple intros iPhone OS 3.1 and iTunes 9
Apple has just announced the availability of iPhone OS 3.1, during the “It’s only rock and roll” event.
Coming almost three months after iPhone OS 3.0, the 3.1 version of Apple’s mobile operating system should be available starting later today, as a free download for all iPhones and iPods with OS 3.0 installed.
Some of the new things that iPhone OS 3.1 brings include the Genius function (which can make recommendation based on what apps you already own), and ringtones (more than 30,000 ringtones will be available at $1.29 each). Well, until iPhone OS 4.0 comes out, you’ll have to be happy with just that.
Apple has also announced iTunes 9, which also comes with novelties, including the fact that it allows users to manage their apps directly from iTunes.

Apple said that it currently has more than 75,000 apps in the App Store, which provided about 1.8 billion downloads.
