Blackberry Storm OS 5.0 Firmware Coming Sunday
Are you a current Blackberry Storm owner and don’t plan on upgrading to the sequel quite just yet? Just in time for the upcoming Blackberry Storm 2 (or 9550), a new Firmware upgrade called OS 5.0.0.328 will be available for download this Sunday, October 25.
I suppose it’s never too late, but it is pretty darn close to the launch of the Storm 2.
This particular upgrade will resolve a lot of the current issues plaguing the Storm, such as:
- Improved browser
- Flick scrolling
- Threaded texting
- Loads apps faster
Sadly, the upgrade will not be available OTA. It will need to be done via the computer. All of the user’s data will be backed up and restored during the update, and apps will be saved. So no need to fear, everyone; feel free to update to your heart’s content.

There are two places to find the OS 5.0 download:
1. Go to www.BlackBerry.com/storm/updates and download; then load from computer into your Storm
2. Wait until Desktop Manager notifies you of an update and it will do it for you

Who’s excited? Who’s getting the update?
