Apple in talks with UK carriers to offer subsidized iTablet / iSlate?
By Ilinca Nita on 20 Jan 10A full week ahead of the grand Apple event set for January 27, rumors about the company’s iTablet / iSlate are showing up from all over the Web.
For example, Guardian.co.uk is implying that Apple has “approached” UK operators in order to negotiate a possible release of its upcoming tablet. Orange – which will likely offer the Apple tablet in France – is believed to be among these carriers. O2 and Vodafone are possibly in the game, too – especially since both are selling Apple’s iPhone in the UK.
A subsidized iTablet / iSlate would certainly attract more customers than an unsubsidized one – which could cost up to $1,000.
The Apple tablet is expected to be commercially available in the US starting March, but the UK will apparently get it later in the spring.
