They're not expected to be shipped 3rd quarter of this year actually, which is still a while away. I have been doing my reading and slating me for expressing my opinion on a freeboard seems a bit far fetched.

The problem i have with Nokia is that it has NOT been exciting since the N95 and to a lesser extent, the N900 which is on a lot of people's minds lately. Nokia hype/rumor/promise then don't announce anything for about 6-8 months and during that timeframe, others are brutally seizing the fraction and attention of the marketshare that was once Nokias. They realised Symbian wasn't perfect by today's standards lacking the more user friendly multitouch and capacititive screens so they felt compelled to give the UI a complete overhaul.

Just because I criticised Nokia, does not make me an avid lover of all things Apple or Android. Don't assume, in fact, i detest all things Apple and believe Android is nothing but hype, these I feel are mass marketed for the American market where the latter is failing to wow European and Asian markets and where the Droid isn't being well received. Open source or not, the casual consumer, which makes up the majority of the market, won't know what on earth that means. What they want is something to wow them and unfortunately, that isn't Symbian or Nokia, it's Crapple's Iphone

Nokia are also trying to focus thier efforts on the developing markets such as China and India, so I don't expect them to rely solely on thier super N8 or S Series to save the day. Whatever the developing markets will approve of, Nokia will target that specific market to meet its needs. Thier emphasis is to make less smartphones to cater to what is already the largest number of mobile users in the world, which is good for them but an impatient wait for us on the next 'superphone' The need to cocentrate your efforts for the developing market also makes the Finns lazier with no breathtaking or groundbreaking innovation, because they sit at the top they don't feel the need to want to stay there because they sell millions of budget handsets in two of the most populous countries in the world. Today Nokia announced augmented reality and 3D, something already being used on Android and Apple although strictly speaking, this was probably one of Nokia's earlier patents that weren't realised as early yet they were beaten to the punch. Nokia announce, but take very long to deliver on thier promises and ultimately end up last, LG have given us an indication on when to expect this technology on thier next handset but Nokia have been tightlipped as always.

On the grounds of your advice, I await what Nokia will bring, but will not feel particularly excited or enthusiastic about the prospects.

actually thats not quite correct, according to the symbian foundation information, s^3 devices should be in the pipeline within the next month or so and be shipping by the end of Q2 this year. By the time that these devices have actually gained traction in the market, symbian^4 will be practically functionally complete with devices on course for Q1 2011. Do some reading before making such broad canvassing statements. Furthermore, the fact that nokia hasn't announced any devices at MWC may well be down to them not being ready to show the software that they are working on for their upcoming devices. I don't hear you slating apple for not releasing a new device since last year (arguably since 2008). Calm down and exhibit a bit of patience, good things come to those who wait ;-)

That's all well and said, but until then we're not really going to see any new N Series devices or the super spec phones which Nokia was hyping until 2011 are we? Symbian ^ 3 isn't going to be officially released until well into the christmas/new years period. In the meantime, we're living on rumors of an X10, which I honestly think is going to be Nokia's newest flagship announcement for 2010, yes, announcement considering this will run Symbian ^3. Wanna bet what the flagship handset for the remainder of 2010 will be? Yes, you guessed it, the Nokia N97 for the second consecutive year is STILL Nokia's flagship handset. I swear to God we see more Volkswagen Golfs being replaced than we do Nokia smartphones. Nokia really need to get thier act together, with Windows Phone 7 Series, Android 3.0 on the horizon along with the new Iphone 4G as well as the imminnet threat of HTC's 1.5ghz snapdagon HD3 monster and WiMax enabled 4G Supersonic, i pretty much doubt consumers will be holding onto thier X6 16gb 'smart'phone, Nokia's only new and officially announced handset and the ailing N97. What next, the N8 is really the N97 with xenon flash and 3.7 inch touchscreen?

S^3’s UI is quite up to date, with the latest pinch-to-zoom features, swiping, scrolling, flicking and picking, you can perform all the fliptastic finger tricks you would expect to on a multi-touch Apple or Android device. Customization seems to be a big focus, users can select multiple layouts for their Home Screen, widgets galore, and a media player app the looks a whole lot like Apple’s Cover Flow. More: http://bit.ly/symbian-s3-platform-compiled

Considering it's X series the spec is really good, but i'm sorry to say that it's just fake.

Actually, I just noticed this is an X Series model so the specs are bound to be average, but they're ok I suppose for a mid-tier upper range class smartphone. I Wonder what Sony Ericsson are going to say about the name infringement, X10?

Isn't this going a step backwards with a tiny screen and a crappy camera sensor? 2010 is already proving to be a big disappointmentalready, 2009 was just so much better. The only redeeming thing so far about MWC 2010 is Windoes Phone 7 Series, which just totally blows everything else out. C'mon Nokia, get your act together!
