Teen girl’s phone comes back loaded with porn after repair service
By David Gonzales on 24 Mar 10An 18-year old teenage girl named Lauren Kennedy sent her Nokia phone to a Carphone Warehouse earlier this month because it had a problem of it cutting out during phone calls. That problem has since been taken care of, but Lauren’s phone came back with an entirely new issue: it was pre-loaded with porn.
Apparently, video clips and images showing “couples having sex in the toilet, in the bathroom and having group sex in the bedroom,” made their way onto Lauren’s mobile phone. She said this has left her “deeply traumatised”.
Lauren says she immediately contacted the customer services department of Carphone Warehouse, and it offered a mere £10 in compensation.
A spokesman for Carphone Warehouse has commented on the issue, saying that they are investigating this issue as a matter of urgency. They have since replaced Lauren’s phone with a brand new BlackBerry Curve, but I doubt if anything they do will be able to compensate for the shock Lauren says she felt upon seeing pornography loaded on her mobile phone.
Who knows what might have occurred if this happened to a boy… Nothing, perhaps?
