Android 2.1 for Sprint’s Samsung Moment available now (unofficially)
If you have a Samsung Moment and can’t wait until Sprint decides to release the promised Android 2.1 (Eclair) update, you can go ahead and install the update by yourself.
The folks over at SDX-Developers have released a zip file with two Android 2.1 ROMs for the Moment. The two builds are ECLAIR.DC23 and ECLAIR.DD03 – both seem to work well, although not flawlessly.
The file is 140.96MB big and can be downloaded here. Keep in mind that your phone data will probably be lost after installing the update. For more details you should follow this discussion at the SDX-Developers forum.
Sprint’s HTC Hero will also be upgraded to Android 2.1 soon – most probably before the end of the month, when the official 2.1 update for the Moment should also be launched.
