Nokia N8 full spec sheet leaks

Update: Nokia N8 has been officially announced. And it seems that the leaked spec sheet was legit. Still, now that we have official announcement, the final specs, official pics and release videos for Nokia N8 are here.

Even a day hasn’t passed since the scathing first impressions on Nokia N8 flagship, and the details about new handset just keep poring out.

At this rate, Nokia may soon have no chance but go with the official announcement, even if the actual shipping date of Nokia N8 will be delayed until  September.

The thing I’m talking about right now is, what seems to be an internal Nokia N8 spec sheet, that has somehow ended up on on one of the russian file download sites.

And it looks pretty authentic too, with internal product numbers, the name of a product manager (who, we confirmed, actually works for Nokia) both in a spec sheet and the *.doc file metadata.

And now, let’s go to the good parts. Nokia N8 key hardware specs will include:

  • Form factor: Touch screen monoblock
  • Protocols: WCDMA 850/900/1700/1900/2100 and GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900
  • Codecs: AMR, NB AMR, WB AMR, FR, EFR
  • Display: 3.5” OLED, capacitive touch screen, widescreen 16:9 nHD with (640*360 pixels) 16M colors, active area 43.2 mm x 76.8 mm
  • Processor speed: 680MHz
  • Connectors: HDMI, 3.5 mm AV connector, micro USB interface to PC, uSD slot, 2mm DC jack
  • USB 2.0 High Speed, USB OTG, USB charging
  • Memory: 256MB RAM, 512 ROM
  • User Memory: 140 MB internal after boot-up, 16GB eMMC, Hot swappable microSD up to 32GB
  • 12Mpix AF camera with Carl Zeiss Tessar f/2.8 28mm wide-angle optics. Xenon Flash, focal length 29 mm, 20x digital zoom camera
  • Physical keys: application key, power key, camera key, lock key, volume up & down
  • Input methods: Finger touch support for text input and UI control: ITU keypad, full keyboard. Chinese handwriting recognition. Possibility to use capasitive stylus
  • Stereo FM Radio
  • Hands free speaker: Boosted Class D mono speaker
  • Integrated GPS
  • 3D Entry Accelerometer
  • Proximity sensor
  • Battery: BL-4D 1200mAh (inbox), up-to 7.7/5.4 2G/3G talk time, 719/603hrs stanby, 7.3 hrs H.264 video 720p playback, 3.2h 720p video recording
  • Dimensions: 113.5x59x12.9 mm
  • Volume: 86 cc
  • Weight: 135 g

Sounds pretty good, but nothing really groundbreaking for Q3 2010.

Also, some details in the document – not-yet-confirmed features – like DRM free Ovi Music store, and also WLAN IEEE802.11 b/g (China version WAPI) indicate that this might be the description of Chinese version of Nokia N8,  so European version probably be  slightly different.

Also of note is that this spec sheet is dated early November, and some hardware details might have and changed since then.

Update: Nokia N8 has been officially announced. And it seems that the leaked spec sheet was legit. Still, now that we have official announcement, the final specs, official pics and release videos for Nokia N8 are here.

    Mainly concerned with:
    - 1200mah battery is a dissapointment
    - pinch zoom seems like its only in 3 apps, which means its more of a bandaid approach as opposed to firmware framework implementation…
    - No autofocus / touch to focus in video..

Actually I think that that document is a promise of something very nice, including great camera, f-transmitter etc. “Wide selection of device colors” would be nice, too. Have to remember though that this was a prototype and that document is several months old – we'll see how great the device is when we see it!

wow. this phone is just as shitty as the n97.
why is nokia still so backwards when all the other big companies with their flagship phones come out with 1ghz snapdragon processor with at LEAST 512 mb of ram.

a little advice for everyone… NEVER BUY A FUCKEN NOKIA
i bought 1 and its my biggest regret right now

If they can lower the price a little bit more then this would be good, also a little bit more work on the S^3 performance — judging from the video, I think there's a lot of room for improvement here.
