Samsung Bada Developers Challenge kicks off, $2.7 million in prizes
In a move that’s bound to attract a fairly large number of software developers, Samsung has just announced the debut of Bada Developers Challenge, calling it “the biggest mobile application contest this year.”
The Bada Challenge has two rounds and comes with $2.7 million in prizes. The first round starts today (May 17), and you have to develop one ore more Bada applications to enter the competition – the applications must run in the simulator environment included in the Bada SDK (downloadable here).
After about three months, Samsung will award 300 developers with Wave S8500 smartphones. The 300 devs will enter the second round. The prizes in cash are as follows:
- $300,000 for “the Samsung bada Champion”
- 7 First Place prizes of $100,000 each
- 8 Second Place prizes of $60,000 each
- 8 Third Place prizes of $40,000 each
- 10 Special winner prizes (awarded to developers of small and highly optimized applications) of $30,000 each
- 56 prizes of $8,000 each
That’s quite a lot of money that talented developers can make. Interested devs should register for the Samsung Bada Developers Challenge here at the Bada website.
Samsung will also roll-out regional challenges in the following countries: France, Russia, Poland, China, Vietnam, Philippines and Singapore,
