T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide to get Android 2.2 Froyo next week?

Last week, T-Mobile’s new myTouch 3G Slide was mentioned among the HTC smartphones that would get an Android 2.2 Froyo update – and this has just been re-confirmed by AndroidSpin.

According to two separate (and anonymous) sources, Android 2.2 updates for the myTouch 3G Slide will be rolled-out as early as next week (when the smartphone should become available for purchase), but only to T-Mo staff, for testing purposes.

End users, on the other hand, should expect to get Android 2.2 on their myTouch Slide starting the second half of the year (July).

The myTouch 3G Slide is T-Mobile USA’s sixth Android smartphone, featuring a HVGA touchscreen display, full QWERTY keyboard, Swype, Wi-Fi, GPS, and a 5MP camera. The handset will be sold for $179.99 with a 2-yr contract agreement.
