Nokia N8 UK launch date confirmed as August 25?
Although Vodafone UK has already added the Nokia N8 to its website (as “coming soon”, of course), British customers may not be able to buy the smartphone until August 25.
Pocket-lint has it that this is the official launch date for Nokia’s first Symbian^3 handset in the UK – reportedly confirmed by “a member of staff at a Nokia mobile phone store.”
The price of Nokia N8 for the UK has not been disclosed, but it should be around £315 (the equivalent of €370 – the initial N8 price announced by Nokia). That’s not much for a smartphone that comes with most of the high-end features wanted by users, including a 12MP autofocus camera with Carl Zeiss optics (sure enough, many users don’t quite like Symbian, so the N8’s accessible price won’t really matter in this case, but that’s another story).
Meanwhile, Nokia has posted a long a boring N8 video walkthrough on its official blog, showcasing widgets, messaging, web browsing, and Ovi Maps. Don’t expect to be blown away or anything.
