Google Maps Navigation now available to Android users in Europe
Almost two months after it was released in the UK, Google Maps Navigation is, as of today, available in other European countries, too.
Several Android users have confirmed that Google Maps Navaigation works in France, Belgium and the Netherlands (via AllAboutPhones). The service is probably enabled in other important European countries, too, like Germany, Italy or Spain.
Google Maps Navigation provides free turn-by-turn navigation with voice directions to Android (1.6 or newer) smartphones.
Although Google Maps is available on many mobile platforms, free navigation only works on Android, and iPhone or Windows Mobile might never get it – that’s an important advantage that Google’s Android has over other mobile OSes (save for Symbian, which has its own Ovi Maps with free navigation).
