Verizon kills the Droid Eris; Droid Incredible still delayed – Motorola couldn’t be happier
The imminent launch of the Droid X couldn’t have come at a better time for Motorola, as HTC’s two Android smartphones that Verizon introduced in late 2009 are now both hard to find.
In fact, it looks like the Droid Eris has been completely removed from Verizon’s online store, and it won’t be back, ever.
As for the HTC Droid Incredible, Verizon currently says that, if you order it, it will be shipped by July 20. By then, the Motorola Droid X will likely be available, so lots of customers might want to get the new Moto Droid instead of the HTC one. Update: just minutes after I posted this, Verizon has changed the Droid Incredible shipping date to July 21. That’s great.
The Motorola Droid X should be officially announced later today, although Verizon will probably sell it only starting July. Hopefully, it won’t be more expensive than the Droid Incredible ($200 on contract).
