I think Marco Arment, lead developer of Tumblr and Instapaper, said it best: "I never make technology-buying decisions based on future promises, rumors, or potential. I let other people be the bleeding-edge extremely early adopters, and I stick with what I know will work and stay out of my way. I don’t buy things that are “getting better”, because they usually don’t. Whatever caused them to be lacking in their current release will usually prevent them from being great in future releases."

There has already been six releases of Android, why would release 7 be any different? I think we will se some improvements in Gingerbread, and then people immediately begin chanting; Just you wait for 3.5 Supercake!

This Gingerbread and many other articles are widely accepted as twoddle: -

We ran a story recently detailing the possible changes to Android in the new Gingerbread version. It was based on several strong leaks and detailed the end of custom UI's, minimum hardware specs and much more. These have now been cast into doubt as Dan Morrill, Open Source and Compatibility Tech Lead for Android, stating that ..

"I love it when people just make stuff up and report it as news."

He links to the original unwiredview article and also says that, "You shouldn't believe everything you read" plus "I can make up crap too". So, perhaps this isn't the end of the HTC Sense UI after all? We'll wait to see what the official specs bring.

He was not simply criticising products, he told that the company is effectively dead many times and no development is done. We see that this is definitely wrong. Yeah, they are not in perfect shape, but nontheless things are improving very fast. Also, this was about things, which are difficult to prove, but what he said about performance improvements in Android 2.2 compared to Symbian or about EBT is just so plainly wrong that it's hard for me to take his articles seriously.

I disagree about X10, I don't really care, whether I have 1.6 or 2.1 in my phone if it's convenient and I don't face any problems with apps. Yeah, Google made some UI improvements in 2.1, but SE provided their own UI which reduces the need for 2.1. By the way, their UX platform is not just Timescape, it's also such apps like dialer, phonebook, calendar, messsaging, settings and so on. I have less APIs in 2.1 and I don't have animated wallpapers. The latter is definitely not a critical loss and the first one also doesn't concern much if all the apps I've installed so far are running fine anyway.

Yep, sometimes his SE bashing was a bit overboard. But overall, the bashing
of SE since (and including) K850 was well deserved because SE was releasing
one crappier phone after another. And they went through near death
experience as a result, losing more then half of marketshare, about a
billion dollars and hundreds of employees.

SE is alive now. But I certainly will not call them well yet. They managed
to stem the slide with X10, but they srewed it up too. With the best
designed Android smartphone in 2010, old Android 1.6 OS, pretty, but useless
timescape UI and being the last to upgrade their flagship to Android 2.1,
when everyone else is moving to 2.2.

The same thing is now happening to Nokia. Which is started it's downhill
slide with crappy products, delayed launches, etc; last year.

In the end, it's your choice what to believe or not, of course,

Sometimes goes overboard? He has been telling that SE sucks and is about to be closed soon ever since K850 came out or about so. How many times did I read it? This is the end for SE, SE is finished, they're gonna be closed soon... I see that SE is still alive and well.

Yeah, he often talks about the future, but if he says something wrong - oh, yes, sorry, got wrong information. He was often keen to share his insight on the flaws in SE phones, but real users didn't find anything. Really, I've read so much of this so I stopped paying attention to whatever he's saying. He might be right, might be wrong, but it doesn't really make any difference whether he has said something or not. So until Google says something on this matter, I won't deem this information true.

Sure, I know quite a few things where he was obviously wrong about - e.g
Nokia N8 price was the most recent one. And he sometimes goes overboard (to
my taste), when he starts disliking some company (SE, Nokia).

But, when talking about/leaking particular details, he's more often right
then wrong. And in this particular case, I think he's mostly right. Except
for version numbering/codenames - whether it's 3.0 or 2.5, or even if the
update is Gingerbread. But that's more my mistake, he was mainly talking
about "the next Android"for mid. October in podcast. And, looking at recent
history, nobody except Google knows this.

As for getting things wrong - everyone in this business gets some things
wrong. Sometimes due to incorrect info from the sources, sometimes because
plans within companies change, sometimes because you just made the wrong
conclusions. But it's the right/wrong ratio that counts, and Eldar's is
among the best in the industry

I definitely can show that he's writing wrong. Well, not all the time, but too often not to believe him. He wrote that Google has improved Android 2.2 performance in no time when it took Symbian two years to accomplish this - this show us that he knows nothing neither of JIT-compilation, nor of the whole VM concept. He told me personally that by Sony and Ericsson invested a lot of money into Sony Ericsson and that immidiately raised EBT of the company just because they have more cash. Also, if I'm not mistaken, he told us that there will be no upgrades for Sony Ericsson X10 to newer versions. Well, we see how right he was.

I see no reason to call you stupid, but I see no reason to believe Murtazin either.

That would be the Nexus One, and... what?

Or do you mean Android 3 not running on older hardware, in the same way that iOS4 won't run on older iPhones?

Yep. And you also can call me stupid, if you can show that he's paid for to
leak competitor stuff. Or that he is wrong most of the time.

But you can't, can you?

I'd say that this is another bullshit from Murtazin. I'm tired of his stories in Russian, now I see that they leaked from Runet. I've lost count how many times he said absoulutely stupid things. It's just I thought that they believe him only in Russia. Now I see that I'm wrong, unfortunately.
