Motorola Charm with Android 2.1 officially announced for T-Mobile USA
Motorola has officially announced its third Android smartphone for T-Mobile USA: the Motorola Charm, a QWERTY-equipped candybar that will be available via T-Mo “this summer.”
The Charm is Moto’s second Android device to come with a vertical QWERTY keyboard, after the FlipOut. It runs Android 2.1, uses an enhanced MotoBlur skin, and comes with BACKTRACK – “a navigational pad located on the rear of the display, which lets you navigate, scroll and make selections without obstructing the display with your fingers.”
The new handset doesn’t look bad (of course, you may disagree) and it seems to be quite pocket-friendly:
Here’s a list of specs and features:
- 2.8 inch QVGA touchscreen display
- GSM 850/900/1800/1900, HSDPA/HSUPA 1700/2100
- Wi-Fi
- A-GPS, eCompass
- Google services (Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, Android Market)
- 3.5mm headset jack
- Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR
- FM radio
- CrystalTalk Plus
- 3MP photo camera with fixed focus and Kodak Perfect Touch technology
- 512MB internal memory, 2GB MicroSD card included
- 98.4 x 67 x 11.4 mm
- 110 grams
The Moto Charm will be available in two color versions (bronze and cabernet). In the US, it will be exclusively sold at T-Mobile. Motorola didn’t announce the phone’s price.
