On Droid X and Samsung Vibrant launch day, Sprint announces HTC EVO 4G accessories (the phone itself is still sold out)

Seeing how Verizon and T-Mobile launched the Motorola Droid X and the Samsung Vibrant, respectively, Sprint said: “hey, we want to be in the news, too!”

And since it didn’t had any new hot phone to launch (the release date of Samsung Epic 4G is still not certain), yesterday the carrier announced it’s offering a bunch of accessories for the HTC EVO 4G, its current flagship smartphone.

As I’m typing this, the EVO 4G is sold out on Sprint’s website – as it has been for quite a while now. But hey, at least you can buy accessories for it.

    You know what's awful about bad reporting, you use headlines as though they are “new” news. In this case, they're not. These are the same accessories that have been available since the launch of the device. How come the post doesn't say that. It just “implies” that even though the device is out of stock (again, not news) that sprint “announces” accessories are available.

    They're NOT “announcing” anything. They're simply putting the same link they've had all along on the phone's section on their website to the (crappy) accessories they have had since launch.

    At least use the correct terminology when writing posts. They aren't “announcing” anything new, which is what “announcing” means. They're selling the same accessoires they've been selling. Which, in this case, makes this non-news.

    Announcing is “to make known publicly”. And Sprint yesterday wanted to make known publicly that it's got accessories for the EVO 4G, even though these were already available. Call it re-announcing, if you will.

    If anything, the news is that, as I already said in the post, Sprint wanted some attention, too, during the launch of Droid X and Samsung Vibrant.
