Samsung UK is giving away Galaxy S smartphones to iPhone 4 owners frustrated with the death grip
Well this definitely sounds too good to be true.
But it is true.
Samsung Mobile UK is giving free Galaxy S devices to people who have tweeted their iPhone death grip-related frustrations. Samsung appear to be so confident about the superiority of the Galaxy S that they’re sending free ones to existing iPhone customers so they can decide for themselves.
This is happening via their Twitter account, @samsungukmobile, and one of their latest tweets indicates that there aren’t many devices left to give away.
How exactly they’re doing this is unclear, if they just randomly select people who’ve tweeted about death grip issues, or if they can be contacted directly by people willing to get one of the most expensive smartphones for free. Or if there’s some sort of ‘first tweeted, first served’ system.
Also unclear are potential geographical limitations, although since this is a UK-specific account, it would be reasonable for the promotion to be limited to those shores.
This comes after, earlier today, Samsung have released a print ad mocking the iPhone’s infamous reception issues.
Samsung seem set on taking advantage of their competitor’s woes as much as they can, and to be honest, this type of aggressive marketing is quite welcome in a space that’s usually dominated (with Apple as the one notable exception) by set-phrases and bland PR-speak.
Way to go, Samsung.
