Sprint Samsung Epic 4G to be launched on August 20?
Sprint announced the Samsung Epic 4G almost one month ago, but it didn’t provide an exact release date for the smartphone – which will be North America’s first 4G handset with a QWERTY keyboard.
Luckily, a recent tweet from SamsungMoibleUSA reads: “the Sprint Epic 4G is arriving in a few weeks.”
Moreover, Android Police discovered this: Samsung has posted two official “Samsung TV” videos presenting the AT&T Captivate and the T-Mobile Vibrant on dates that coincide with the handsets’ launch dates: July 19 and July 21, respectively (well, actually the Vibrant was released earlier – on July 15 – but July 21 was the initial official launch date until T-Mobile and Samsung decided to introduce the smartphone on the 15th because Verizon has also launched its Motorola Droid X that day).
It has also been discovered that Samsung plans to post a Samsung TV video of the Epic 4G on August 20 – so this might be the day when the device hits the shelves.
Now, I do realize that this is in no way a confirmation of the Samsung Epic 4G’s launch date. Even so, August 20 seems to be a good guess.
Update: Samsung’s website now shows that the Epic 4G video is scheduled for “January 01, 3000” – does this mean they’re hiding the previous date (August 20) because it is indeed the launch date?
