Reconfirmed: Samsung Galaxy Tab Android tablet coming this quarter
Samsung’s first Android tablet, possibly named Galaxy Tab or Galaxy P1000, is indeed coming this quarter, as rumored last month.
Samsung has reconfirmed this to Reuters, although it didn’t unveil the exact launch date of the tablet. The company has also confirmed the tabled would have a 7 inch screen. It didn’t mention if it runs Android 2.2 Froyo, but it most likely will – since Android 2.1 is now old, and Gingerbread won’t be officially out until Q4.
The price of Samsung Galaxy Tab (or whatever its name will be in the end) is not known at the moment.
LG, Motorola and Acer also plan to introduce Android tablets later this year, but they will probably do it after Samsung.
All these tablets could hurt Apple iPad sales, especially if they’d be launched in the US.
