New info on the Samsung Galaxy Tab, quick video preview

It’s a good thing that the Samsung Galaxy Tab will be officially announced on September 2nd, since there seem to be more and more leaks about this device by the day.

And while details about its price or release date still aren’t available, some other new information regarding Samsung’s first Android tablet has surfaced from a Korean website, alongside a quick preview video.

The 7″ touchscreen will have a 16:10 aspect ratio and therefore its resolution will be 800×480, contrary to previous rumors that wanted it to be more.

Also, the screen technology used apparently isn’t AMOLED or Super AMOLED, but plain old LCD. This was used because it enables increased sharpness of text, and Samsung do plan to also market this tablet as an e-reading device.

WiFi 802.11n is inside the Galaxy Tab, as are Bluetooth 3.0 and 3G, as expected. The tablet can be used for phone calls using a bluetooth headset.

The Galaxy Tab weighs just 370 grams. It will have either 16GB or 32GB of storage, depending on which variant you choose to buy. As previously leaked, it will run Android 2.2 and have a 1GHz ‘Hummingbird’ processor.

There will also be a version of it for Korean operator SKT, which will get the model designation SHW-M180S and will come with a DMB-T tuner for mobile TV watching.
