Acer unveils the Liquid E Ferrari Special Edition Android smartphone in India
Clearly, today is re-announcement day in the Android smartphone world. LG was at it, and now there is news about Acer basically re-announcing the already announced Liquid E Ferrari. They did however slightly rebrand it, as it’s now called the Acer Liquid E Ferrari Special Edition. I don’t know if having more words in the name will help get people to buy it, but we’ll see.
Today’s unveiling of this device in India did bring something really new – the confirmation that it will be available in India. When that will happen or how much it will cost are still mysteries at this point.
The Liquid E Ferrari Special Edition features the regular Liquid E‘s internals, such as the Qualcomm 8250 Snapdragon processor, 5 MP camera, 3.5-inch touchscreen and Android 2.1, as well as some Ferrari-specific enhancements. Among these are a special Ferrari wallpaper that reportedly brightens up the homescreen, stunning images and videos always at your fingertips, a special set of Ferrari-engine ringtones, and a unique and lightweight Ferrari design that brings the handset’s weight to just 135 g.
Sandeep Sibal, Country Manager and Vice President of Business Development for Qualcomm India and South Asia had this to say about the device:
“The Liquid E Ferrari special edition smartphone takes full advantage of our powerful and power-efficient Snapdragon chipset to enable stunning multimedia capabilities like high definition video capture and playback, 3D gaming and a rich mobile internet experience for the discerning Indian consumer”
Infinity retail, which owns the Croma stores, will be Acer’s exclusive retail partner for the Liquid E Ferrari when it launches.
