The Nokia N8 will finally become available in the UK on October 22nd. Prior to that, you will be able to order it online (but only from Nokia’s own store) starting on October 15th.
Those who have pre-ordered N8s may get them sooner but if you’ve only now made up your mind you’ll still have a bit of waiting to do.
Granted, the N8 does seem to be available to buy in other countries, but having it available in the UK (one of the most important markets in Europe) three weeks after the end of Q3 (that was the shipping target that Nokia had all along) still counts as a delay in my book.
One way or the other, if you’re in the UK and want an N8, you’ll get it by the end of the month.
Buying it from Nokia’s online store will set you back £429 if you’d like it SIM free, or you could get it with contract starting at £30/month (in which case the device is free).
On October 22nd it will be available from a wide range of sources, including all the major UK carriers, plus Tesco Mobile and Virgin Mobile, Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U.
At least it will be a ‘big’ launch, to attempt to make up for the delay. Nothing against that, as giving the consumer more choices is always good.
