Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant and Captivate to get Android 2.2 Froyo in mid-December in Canada

The Canadian versions of Samsung Vibrant and Samsung Captivate (offered by Bell and Rogers, respectively) will be updated to Android 2.2 Froyo in mid-December.

That’s what Samsung Canada recently said on Facebook – so the promised updates are pretty much official.

The Galaxy S Fascinate (available via Telus as of this month) will also be updated to Android 2.2, but only in “early 2011”.

Canada aside, there’s no word yet on when the Vibrant (T-Mobile), Captivate (AT&T) and Fascinate (Verizon) will get Froyo in the US – it should happen before the year’s end, though.

    These updates were supposed to happen a while ago but always seem to be pushed back by Samsung somehow which is very fustrating. Other Android devices have been on Froyo for quite sometime now,what’s up with Samsung? Anyhow, good to know it will come one day. Better later than never, just hope it works properly and not full of bugs.

    Whatever, if it’s released in Canada, the XDA peeps will strip out the crap and make it available globally shortly thereafter.

    In july it was aug,in aug it became sept,in sept it was late oct then when late oct came and went it became late nov..now that it is late nov we are hearing mid dec…are they @#%!! Serious…its always the same bs..good news my @##!!!…samsung is full of it..will get rid of this phone as soon as the chance arrives
