So you walk into a bar… and find a Nokia N00 prototype device. What do you do? Sell it to a blog? Remember, this is a Nokia prototype. Who’d buy it? So yes, the logical answer is: you put it up for sale on eBay. Oh, and ask a shameful amount of money for it too. I mean, it is a prototype. That you found lying around.
The device labeled Nokia N00 Prototype C has a 12-megapixel camera, what appears to be a Xenon flash, a strange (and perhaps rather retro) look, and may have been a planned successor to the N86, or a variant of that phone that has been scrapped in the mean time.
The seller wants no more, no less than $799.99 (that’s about 606 euros) for the phone, and claims this is a prototype of the unreleased N87. Going through the few sketches that we’ve seen of the N87 in the past, the two certainly look similar, but not identical. And the rumored N87 (‘Vasco’ for those in the know) was always said to feature a big touchscreen, while judging from this device’s array of hardware buttons, it doesn’t have a touchscreen. Of course, there’s no way to know how Nokia’s plans for the device have changed during the development phase, so this may be an N87 after all.
Whether or not it will ever be officially released is another matter. And surely only time will tell, although it is looking rather unlikely from where I’m standing.
Anyway, if you’re interested in the proto, head over here and buy it.
