Apple iPad 2 shipments may start in February
There’s no doubt that Apple will launch a new iPad sometime next year – most likely called iPad 2.
We’ve recently heard that the new iPad would feature a retina display, dual cameras and 3-axys gyroscope, and it might be available in April 2011.
Now DigiTimes is reporting that Foxconn – the Taiwanese company that manufactures lots of products for Apple – is ready to ship the iPad 2 to Apple as soon as late February.
If this turns out to be true, then the new iPad could indeed be available for purchase in April (most likely first in the US, and then in other markets around the globe).
It’s estimated that Apple will sell more than 14 million first-generation iPads before the end of this year. The company has already sold about 7.5 million units as of September 25 (see here and here – Apple’s official press releases).
