UK: Google Nexus S delayed until Wednesday, December 22
Today was supposed to be the day when the Samsung-made Google Nexus S would become available in the UK, through Carphone Warehouse. However, while people were eagerly expecting the new Google-sanctioned superphone to arrive in stock, Carphone Warehouse put out a press release that did two things.
First, it confirmed the fact that the price for the device has been reduced to £429.99 without a contract (down from £549.99), and the minimum monthly contract to get the phone free is now £30, instead of £35 as originally announced.
Second in the press release was the fact that the Nexus S will only be available on December 22 – that’s this Wednesday. And with the weather conditions in the UK being as they have been these past few days, even deliveries by DHL may take up to 5 days to get to you, so getting a Nexus S in the UK before Christmas seems rather unlikely.
Of course, you could be lucky. The initial stock will be out only in ‘key’ stores – so if by any chance one of those turns out to be near you, you’ll have a nice holiday gift.
