Best Buy may not get Verizon iPhone 4 at launch
February 10 isn’t far away, and that’s the magic date when the iPhone 4 will finally become available on Verizon, after years of rumors and speculation, and then some more rumors.
Best Buy has, historically, been a partner to both Apple and AT&T in selling the iPhone range through its stores, so this information may come as a surprise, but it looks like Best Buy will not be selling the Verizon iPhone 4.
According to GearLive (and, mysteriously, the site is down at the moment), Best Buy is already in the process of telling its employees how to react to questions that its customers might have regarding the lack of availability of the Verizon iPhone 4. Funnily enough, some of that is taken word for word from a BGR blog post from not long ago. And apparently this isn’t the first time that Best Buy has resorted to such things, so this may actually give the image below some credibility.
It’s clear that Best Buy employees are being trained to point out all the disadvantages of an iPhone on Verizon, real or not – or simply impossible to prove. The main points would be the impossibility for the CDMA network to handle data use simultaneous to voice calls, and Verizon’s 3G speeds which are inferior to AT&T’s.
So for now it looks like the only place which will satisfy your craving for a Verizon iPhone starting on February 10 will be the nearest Verizon store.
