Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo to join the Xperia Arc and Xperia Play this year
Just before 2010 ended, a previously unseen Sony Ericsson device leaked. This was then referred to by its codename – Hallon or Halon – and its apparent model number, MT15. It was going to be a successor to the Vivaz, but only in form, as it would be powered by Android.
TechRadar has it from a source close to the Swedish-Japanese manufacturer that this device will be called the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, and it will soon join the already-unveiled Xperia Arc as well as the yet-unannounced Xperia Play (a.k.a. the PlayStation/PSP phone). The Neo may, of course, be announced during Sony Ericsson’s media event on February 13, just before Mobile World Congress kicks off.
The Neo is similar in looks to the Vivaz. It will have an 8.1 MP camera, again Exmor branded, just as the unit in the Xperia Arc. There will also be a single LED flash. The display resolution will be 854×480, again, like that seen in the Xperia Play.
The Xperia Neo will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread, with a slight TimeScape overlay, you guessed it… just like the Arc.
